Methods

  • Extensive survey of academic and policy literature including primary and secondary data sources specific to each jurisdiction and comparative analyses in law, transitional justice, anthropology, criminology, sociology, history and political science.
  • Development of a bespoke and theoretically informed research instrument for each case study.
  • Fieldwork in each jurisdiction comprising primarily semi-structured interviews with national and international lawyers, political actors, victims’ representatives, academics, judicial figures, and NGO activists.
